16-year-old Mackenzie Bullard killed in targeted shooting in Quincy

The investigation into the shooting that occurred early this morning on Scenic Drive is ongoing.

Detectives with the Quincy Police Department’s investigations unit, along with members of the patrol division are actively working on the case and continue to follow-up on leads, conduct witness interviews and collect and examine physical evidence.

The victim is a 16-year-old Quincy female who attended Quincy Public Schools. Police agency has been working with school district officials to ensure resources are available to students.

The name of the victim is still being held pending authorization from the Adams County Coroner’s Office, but sources identified the victim as Mackenzie Bullard.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow in Peoria, IL.

Initial Release (0800 hours – 10/11/23):

All information in this release is preliminary and subject to change due to this being an active police investigation.

At 4:15 a.m., on October 11, 2023, the Quincy/Adams County 911 Center received a call of suspicious circumstances in the 400 block of Gardner Park Drive – Quincy Police Officers were dispatched to investigate. Shortly after the initial call, another call was received reporting shots fired. About that same time, a call came in from the 400 Block of Scenic Drive reporting that someone had been shot.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a female victim, deceased, inside a residence. The scene was secured and detectives were called to investigate.

The scene is still active and the investigation is in its infancy and ongoing. The identity of the victim will not be released at this time. The victim’s name will be released in coordination with the Adams County Coroner’s Office once family members have been notified.
