Woodville Police officer Troy Costello shot and injured, suspect killed

Tyler County law enforcement officials are currently probing an incident where a suspect shot and killed a Woodville police officer on Sunday morning.

This information was conveyed by Officer Jathan Borel to Channel3 NOW.

According to Borel, an encounter occurred between the suspect and the officer at approximately 7:20 a.m. on South Pecan Street, resulting in the officer sustaining a gunshot wound.

The officer was subsequently airlifted to the hospital. DPS Sgt. Shana Clark has stated that the injuries seem to be non-life-threatening.

Approximately an hour later, officers located the suspect on Shivers Drive and he was subsequently shot and killed, as reported by Officer Borel.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to the officer and their family. Sgt. Clark mentioned that the Texas Rangers are overseeing the investigation.
