Missing 4-year-old Waeys Mohamed found deceased in Hopkins

Helicopter and search teams have been stood down.

Update: The Hopkins Police Department received word earlier today that Waeys Mohamed was found in Minnehaha Creek by a civilian aiding in rescue efforts.

When first responders arrived at the scene, it determined that Waeys was deceased.

His death is believed to be a tragic accident, however the Department is working with the Hennepin County Medical Examiner and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office to determine exact cause of death.

UPDATE: June 10 – 11:20 AM

The Hopkins Police Department is investigating a new development in the search for missing child Waeys Mohamed and will provide an update later today. No additional search volunteers are needed at this time.

UPDATE: June 10 – 9:30 AM

We are asking that any additional volunteers that wish to help search for the missing child please come to Pizza Luce (210 Blake Rd N) at 1:00 PM. This will help coordinate our efforts to search the area. We have also been made aware of social media posts with incorrect information. Please refer to the Hopkins Police Department, Hopkins Fire Department or the City of Hopkins social media sites for accurate information.

UPDATE: Volunteers wishing to help search for Waeys Mohamed should meet on Monday, June 10th at 7am at the Hopkins Fire Department, 101 17th Avenue South, Hopkins, MN 55343.

UPDATE: The Hopkins Police Department with several assisting agencies are still actively searching for the missing four-year-old. If you live in the area, please check your video surveillance cameras for any possible sightings of the child and if you own a business, please check your business for any signs of the missing child.

The Hopkins Police Department, along with several assisting agencies are actively looking for missing 4 year old in the area of Blake Road North and 2nd Street Northeast. The child is described as a black male, approximately 3 feet tall, 40 lbs with short curly hair wearing blue pajama pants. If you live in this area please check your property. If you have any information regarding the missing child please call 911.
