9-year-old detained in shooting death of 32-year-old Tooele man

Tooele, Utah — A 9-year-old has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting death of a Tooele man, who was reportedly a relative of the child.

However, police have provided limited information about the incident due to the young age of the unidentified juvenile.

The Tooele City Police Department stated that its officers responded to a residence on Friday night, located in the vicinity of 380 West Millcreek Way, where a 32-year-old man was found unconscious and bleeding from his head.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the 32-year-old man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his head.

The victim, identified as a family member of the child, was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have cited their inability to provide additional details, stating, “Due to the extremely sensitive nature of this case and the ages of those involved, we are not able to release more information at this time,” in a statement issued by the department.
