1 dead, another injured after shooting in downtown Richmond

West Broad Street has been shut down in both directions to facilitate the investigation.

Richmond Police are conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting incident in the downtown area.

Authorities responded to a call regarding a person shot in the 300 block of West Broad Street at approximately 3:22 a.m. on Sunday.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with gunshot wounds in the street. Regrettably, he was declared deceased at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will ascertain the cause and manner of death. Additionally, police report that another man, who appeared to have been shot, was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.

Investigators have classified his injuries as life-threatening.

Investigators are currently probing the incident and have concluded that both individuals sustained injuries after an altercation.

West Broad Street has been shut down in both directions to facilitate the investigation.
