35-year-old Danielle Walker killed after shooting on Sale Lane in Lake Charles

A suspect linked to a fatal shooting on Sale Lane has been apprehended by the Lake Charles Police Department.

The incident occurred during the morning hours of Friday, January 5. Terrence Jerome Withers, aged 35 and a resident of Lake Charles, has been detained and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

LCPD disclosed that Withers faces one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder.

Prior to the arrival of officers, a juvenile victim contacted dispatch, reporting that Withers had shot both him and his mother.

Upon officers’ arrival at the scene, they called out to Withers, prompting him to exit the residence where officers detained him.

Subsequently, upon entering the home, they discovered a female victim identified as 35-year-old Danielle Nichole Walker of Lake Charles, who had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead by Acadian Ambulance personnel.

Additionally, a 15-year-old juvenile who had been shot was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was released later.

Following the processing of the scene, evidence collection, and witness interviews, an arrest warrant for Withers was obtained, and he was arrested at LCPD Headquarters at 7:35 p.m.

Detectives noted a verbal argument had occurred between Walker and Withers before the shooting. Withers’ bond has been set at $1.25 million.
