24-year-old Kareem King killed after shooting outside Kwick Stop in Tulsa

On 12/8/2023 at about 8 p.m., Tulsa Police Officers responded to a shooting call at a convenience store near 61st and Peoria. A woman said her boyfriend was shot in the head and she was shot in the chest.

Officers arrived and found the two victims in the parking lot. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

The man, identified as 24-year-old Kareem King, was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

The woman said there was an altercation in the parking lot that led to the shooting and the group that shot King ran south of the convenience store.

Shortly after, Officers responded to a different call at an apartment near East 64th Place and Newport Ave. where they found a group matching the description of the one involved in the earlier shooting.

After gathering evidence and interviews, Jaquan Stites was arrested for:

  • First-Degree Manslaughter
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon AFCF (After Former Conviction of a Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

This is Tulsa’s 45th homicide of 2023.
