30-year-old Tevin Walker killed in Freeport shooting, suspect Christopher Calvin remains at large

Freeport, Illinois- On November 26, 2023 at 9:48 am, Officers of the Freeport Police Department responded to a reported shooting incident that occurred in the 600 block of S. Carroll Avenue.

While Officers were enroute to Carroll Avenue, they learned a 30-year-old male victim was being driven to FHN Hospital after being struck by gunfire.

The suspect, 38-year-old Freeport resident Christopher Calvin, was quickly identified as a result of the investigation.

The victim later died from his injuries at FHN Hospital and the victim’s name is not yet being released, but sources confirm the identity as Tevin Walker.

It is believed this incident was not a random act of violence and a felony warrant for First Degree Murder has been issued for the arrest of Christopher Calvin.

The Freeport Police department is asking for anyone who may have information about this case or the whereabouts of Calvin to contact either the Freeport Police Department at 815-235-8222, or Stateline Area Crime Stoppers at 866-TIPSNOW or through texting at Tip411.

The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial, at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
