Update: This morning, an individual attempted to rob an armored truck operator in Murfreesboro, TN, who was servicing ATMs near the Oaks Shopping Mall along the 500 block of N. Thompson Lane around 9:30 a.m.

When confronted, the would-be robber brandished a gun, prompting a bystander to intervene and pull the suspect away. At that point, no weapon was visible.

However, the suspect then fled into a nearby Jason’s Deli, leading to the safe evacuation of employees.

A Murfreesboro police officer entered the restaurant and instructed the suspect to surrender. The situation escalated when the suspect charged at the officer with a butcher knife.

In response, the officer shot the suspect, who later succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

Fortunately, no one else was harmed. Individuals close to the investigation suggest that this incident appears to be a justified use of force.

Nonetheless, the District Attorney has requested the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) to conduct an inquiry.
