False active shooter threat at College Mall in Bloomington

Today at 12:25pm, Bloomington PD took a call that came in regarding a possible active shooter at the College Mall.

Bloomington PD immediately responded to College Mall and confirmed that there was no threat to public safety.

This call was found to be inaccurate.

Upon further investigation, this call is believed to be a miscommunication from the caller and a third party that occurred in connection with the shots fired call that took place on 10/16/23 at 1:46pm in the 300 block of E. Winslow Road, and was inadvertently thought to be active and current.
