Woman killed in shooting at the intersection of Ben Hur and MLK Jr. Avenue in Knoxville
The investigation is in its initial phases.
The Knoxville Police Department Homicide Unit is investigating a deadly shooting that happened on Monday morning in the area of Ben Hur Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
At around 10:45 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023, a KPD officer was flagged down regarding a woman who had been shot at the corner of Ben Hur and MLK Jr. Avenue.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to the UT Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
A witness reported that an unknown individual shot the victim, got into a car and fled the scene.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, which is in the early stages.
