Shooting at Chevy Chase Community Center leaves one dead and multiple wounded

According to state police, one individual has succumbed to their injuries, and at least five others have been wounded in a shooting at a gathering held at the Chevy Chase Community Center in White Township, Indiana County.

The incident occurred around 12:35 a.m., and multiple individuals are reported to have suffered gunshot wounds. The precise count and severity of their injuries remain uncertain at this time.

Trooper Clifford Greenfield of the Pennsylvania State Police reported that the incident occurred during a private gathering at the Chevy Chase Community Center.

As of early Sunday morning, no suspects were in custody.

The center, situated on North 5th Avenue, has been a non-profit establishment since its construction in 1971, aiming to alleviate poverty and support residents of Indiana County.

State police advise people to steer clear of the area.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania has advised students to stay in a secure location and remain vigilant. However, the campus is not under lockdown.
