On Thursday, September 28, the City of Highland Park Police Department responded to Highland Park High School (HPHS) to investigate a report that two students had received text messages indicating the threat of a shooting at HPHS.

The texts were apparently received the night before. Police were made aware at noon and responded with additional staff to initiate the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.

Although the threat was specific to HPHS, the Police Department is increasing patrols and visits to all Highland Park schools.

As a reminder, it is important to report concerns or threats as soon as possible to law enforcement by calling 911.
