Warrant issued for 49-year-old Jose Antonio Gomez-Santana with the murder of his wife Angel Gomez

Homicide Unit detectives needs assistance locating a 49-year-old suspect responsible for the fatal shooting of his 44-year-old wife. Investigators have filed a warrant charging Jose Antonio Gomez-Santana with the murder of Angel Gomez.

On September 25, 2023, Columbus Police officers were called to the 5700 block of Pepperwood Ct. on a report of a person down. Officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds and transported her to the hospital where she died a short time later.

The investigation revealed the victim and suspect were having marital problems and had been separated for several months. Evidence revealed Mr. Gomez-Santana lured Mrs. Gomez to the Pepperwood Ct. residence promising to return some property.

Mr. Gomez-Santana hid inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence and ambushed Mrs. Gomez when she arrived, shooting her several times before fleeing the area.

The suspect has ties to areas in west Columbus and New York. Investigators have learned friends of the suspect will assist in hiding him from law enforcement.
