Update: On Monday, September 18, 2023 at 8:02 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to the 3300 block of North Lumpkin Road (Liberty Commons Apartments) concerning a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female suffering from gunshot wounds.
They later discovered a male (later identified as Jacquese Walker, Jr., 4) deceased from a gunshot wound.
EMS arrived on the scene and transported the female to Piedmont Columbus Regional where she remains in critical condition. Coroner Buddy Bryan arrived on the scene and pronounced the child deceased at 8:50 a.m.
The Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene to take lead on the investigation.
The investigation led to Jacquese Antwan Walker, 35, being developed as the suspect. He is wanted for Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime.
