Update: Brian J. Ford, the victim, succumbed to his injuries. Detectives are currently interrogating the neighbor, identified as 78-year-old Edward Druzolowski, who allegedly fired the shot.
Druzolowski is facing charges of second-degree murder.
Investigators report that Druzolowski confronted Ford regarding his presence on his property, and when Ford did not comply, he discharged his firearm.
Detectives from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office are currently examining a deadly shooting incident involving neighbors in DeLeon Springs.
The shooting incident occurred at approximately 7:13 p.m. at 1880 Alameda Drive.
Preliminary findings suggest that the victim, a 42-year-old man, was engaged in tree trimming near his property boundary when his neighbor emerged from his residence and discharged a shot that resulted in the victim’s fatal injury.
The alleged shooter is a 78-year-old man who is presently undergoing questioning by detectives.
