A man is dead following a police shooting in Buffalo early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to an incident near Kensington and Poultney Avenues shortly after midnight.

The man involved was taken to Erie County Medical Center but pronounced deceased.

Following departmental procedures, both Buffalo homicide detectives and the Internal Affairs Division are conducting separate investigations.

The New York State Attorney General’s office has been notified to investigate this incident, as they do with all fatal officer-involved shootings.

This marks the second such shooting in Buffalo this year.

In February, police shot and killed a man on Reed Street who was believed to have called 911 on himself.
