On Wednesday afternoon, Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported shooting on the 500 block of Marks Street.

Upon arrival at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers and firefighters found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel arrived but were unable to revive the victim.

The scene, including most of the Walmart parking lot, has been cordoned off for investigation. The store remains closed as police proceed with their inquiries.

An employee at the Charleys Cheesesteaks inside the Walmart reported witnessing a male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.

She stated that her manager attempted to render aid, but unfortunately, the victim succumbed to their injuries. “My managers are trained nurses,” she said, “It was a very disturbing situation, and some people have expressed concerns about safety in the area.”

A family member of a Walmart employee expressed gratitude for their loved one’s safety but acknowledged the traumatic nature of the incident.

They recounted witnessing someone attempting to help the gunshot victim and praised the quick response of a Walmart employee who initiated CPR.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
