A tragic incident claimed the lives of a pregnant woman, her unborn child, and her spouse, as reported by the Maple Heights police.

The incident unfolded during the Labor Day afternoon festivities, where numerous families gathered to celebrate the holiday. Authorities stated that at approximately 3:15 p.m., a dispute occurred between a 29-year-old man and his sister at a pavilion located in Stafford Park.

As the woman and her family attempted to depart, her brother allegedly fired his weapon in the parking lot, resulting in the tragic death of the pregnant woman and a minor injury to a 13-year-old who was grazed by a bullet.

Fortunately, the teenager is expected to recover.

Amidst the turmoil, the police reported that the woman’s spouse, a 31-year-old man, sought refuge in a nearby pavilion in an attempt to evade the shooter.

Tragically, he was fatally shot while in the restroom.

Maple Heights Police Chief Todd Hansen remarked, ‘We have preliminary information suggesting an ongoing dispute between the shooter and the two individuals he confronted. It appears that the juvenile’s injury may have been incidental, as he wasn’t the intended target but happened to be in close proximity to the woman. However, there are some familial connections within the group.’

The shooter is in custody, according to the Maple Heights police chief, who said the shooting appeared to be targeted.
